The hugely popular Rose of Tralee is a beauty pageant open to Irish women (and women of Irish descent) from around the world (the eponymous 'roses'). More than just a beauty contest, it's a five-day-long festival bookended by a gala ball and a 'midnight madness' parade led by the newly crowned Rose of Tralee, followed by a fireworks display.
