From budget hostel to five-star elegance, by far the best choice of accommodation in the country is to be had in the city of Dublin. Beyond its central confines the choices thin out and are limited to a selection of traditional B&Bs and a handful of classic old hotels that – by accident or design – haven't upgraded to the tastes of the 21st century. As a result, the vast majority of visitors stay in the city and keep their explorations of the county to day trips.
