Cork City in detail

Drinking & Nightlife

In Cork pubs, locally brewed Murphy’s and Beamish stouts, not Guinness, are the preferred pints.

Given the city's big student population, the small selection of nightclubs does a thriving trade. Entry ranges from free to €15; most are open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Local microbreweries include the long-established Franciscan Well, whose refreshing Friar Weisse beer is popular in summer, and relative newcomer Rising Sons, whose Mi Daza stout is a new take on an old recipe.
