People claiming to be guides hang around the park offices. Their legitimacy can be as hard to discern as their fees. Proffered plastic-laminated rate guides are often works of fiction. Negotiate hard. For hiking, the prices start at around 350,000Rp for two people for up to two hours. A boat ride through the mangroves starts at 700,000Rp for two people for up to three hours.
The park headquarters at Cekik displays a map of the park area, and has a little information about plants and wildlife. The Labuhan Lalang Information Office is in a hut located in the parking area where boats leave for Pulau Menjangan.
You can arrange trekking guides and permits at either office; however, there are always a few characters hanging around, and determining who is an actual park official can be like spotting a Bali starling: difficult.
The main roads to Gilimanuk go through the national park, but you don't have to pay an entrance fee just to drive through. However, any activities in the park, such as hiking or diving Menjangan, require paying the 250,000Rp to 350,000Rp park fee plus any activity fees.
