Beaches

Kuta Beach morphs seamlessly into Legian, then Seminyak. Because of the limited road access, the sand in Seminyak tends to be less crowded than in Kuta. This also means that it's less patrolled and the water conditions are less monitored. The odds of encountering dangerous rip tides and other hazards are ever-present, especially as you head north.

Seminyak's Curving Spine

The thriving heart of Seminyak is along meandering Jl Kayu Aya (aka Jl Oberoi/Jl Laksmana). It heads towards the beach from bustling Jl Basangkasa and then turns north through a part of Seminyak along Jl Petitenget. The road is lined with a profusion of restaurants, upscale boutiques and hotels as it winds through Seminyak and into Kerobokan. Footpaths have hugely improved window-shopping and cafe-hopping; now it's the drivers stuck in traffic who fume.
