Flights & getting there
Semarang's Ahmad Yani Airport is a transport hub with numerous international and domestic connections. AirAsia flies to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Jakarta. Garuda and Citilink also connect Semarang with Jakarta. Lion Air connects Semarang with Jakarta, Bandung, Batam and Banjarmasin and Sriwijaya Air flies to Jakarta and Surabaya.
For ferry information, the office of Pelni has timetables you can consult after its ticket sales windows shut (around 5pm). There are economy and 1st-class boats every three or four days to Sampit and Pontianak in Kalimantan. Prices and schedules change frequently so check with Pelni near to your departure date.
Semarang’s Terboyo bus terminal is 4km east of town, just off the road to Kudus. Air-con minibuses also travel to destinations across the island, including Wonosobo (60,000Rp), Solo (50,000Rp), Yogyakarta (70,000Rp) and Surabaya (from 55,000Rp for economy). Agents for luxury buses and air-conditioned minibuses include Rahayu and Nusantara Indah.

Semarang lies on the main north coast Jakarta–Cirebon–Surabaya train route. Tawang is Semarang’s main station for all exclusive- and business-class services. Economy-class trains depart from Semarang’s Poncol train station.
