As well as dirt-cheap Indonesian favourites like nasi goreng, Maumere's large night market, unsurprisingly, has plenty of stalls grilling fresh fish.
Walk through the open kitchen and peruse the day’s live catch in blue tanks – including crab and lobster – on your way to the second-storey dining room with a classic harbour view.
A reasonably priced fish house. The spicy and sour kuah asam fish soup is delicious and the ikan bakar (grilled fish) is nice too. It's just across the road from the rather shambolic waterfront.
