Home to 136 million people, the Indonesian island of Java is the most densely populated region on Earth. But while the teeming rivers of humanity that flow through Jakarta’s streets at rush hour can feel overpowering, there’s still a surprising amount of room to stretch out and explore. Travelling with other young travellers eager to experience this unique place, you’ll make your way from Java's big cities to the scenic beaches of Bali, soaking up culture and excitement along the way. Itinerary

Day 1 Jakarta Arrive at any time. Additional Notes: You will have a group meeting around 6pm (look out for the Welcome Note in the hotel lobby) and an optional dinner afterwards to get to know your fellow group members. Included Activities: Arrival Day and Welcome Meeting
Day 2 Jakarta/Cianjur (1B) Venture to Cianjur via Bogor, visit the floating villages, and opt to visit a tea plantation. Experience local life by spending the night at a homestay. Additional Notes: Experience local life by spending the night at a homestay. The homestay is located on the outer ring of Cianjur, and accommodation is multi-share. Day 3 Cianjur/Bandung (1B) Depart the homestay and travel to the sprawling city of Bandung, Indonesia's third largest city. Included Activities: Orientation Walk Transport: Private Vehicle (2.00 hour(s))
Day 4 Bandung/Yogyakarta (1B) Travel from Bandung to Yogyakarta on a scenic train journey. Transport: Train (7.00 hour(s), 402km)
Days 5-6 Yogyakarta Spend free time visiting local sights such as the Buddhist Borobudur temple complex, Javanese temples, or Mt Merapi.
Day 7 Yogyakarta/Ngadas (1B, 1D) Begin the day with the train journey to Malang. On arrival in Malang, transfer to a private vehicle for about an hour to reach Ngadas. Upon arrival in the village, meet your hosts and settle into the homestay. In the evening, enjoy a dinner of local fare before gathering at the home of one of the community leaders to learn more about the region's customs and history. Day 8 Desa Ngadas/Bromo (1B, 1L) After an early breakfast, say good bye to your hosts and explore more of the village on an included walk. Then begin the trek along the Ancestor Trail to Mt Bromo, led by a local guide trained through a G Adventures-supported capacity building program. Day 9 Bromo/Red Island (1B) A pre-dawn trek across the “sea of sand” to watch the sunrise over the crater’s rim is a must, popular with both tourists and the local Buddhist Tenggerese, who can be seen giving offerings of food to receive blessings from the Supreme God Hyang Widi Wasa. Day 10 Red Island (1B) Enjoy a surf lesson in the morning, then use free time to explore the nearby fishing village, do some more surfing or chill out in a hammock. Included Activities: Surfing Lesson

Day 12 Pemuteran (1B) Chill out in Bali. Opt to take a snorkelling or diving trip to Menjangan Island.
Day 13 Pemuteran/Kuta (1B) Today's drive is a journey, highlighting the spectacular natural diversity and intense cultural wealth that makes Bali such a sought after destination. Our journey takes us across the island of Bali, through the rich tropical jungle, passing by idyllic terraced rice fields, and quaint scenes of local village life. We then arrive at our overnight destination – popular Kuta beach. Transport: Private Vehicle (5.00-5.50 hours)
