Kuta & Legian in detail

Flights & getting there

Bemos (minibuses) travel between Kuta and the Tegal terminal in Denpasar – the fare should be around 10,000Rp. The route goes from Jl Raya Kuta near Jl Pantai Kuta, looping past the beach, then on Jl Melasti and back past bemo corner for the trip back to Denpasar.

There's a bemo stop off Jl Raya Kuta for infrequent bemo service between Kuta and Tuban.

For public buses to anywhere in Bali, you'll have to go to the appropriate terminal in Denpasar first. Tourist shuttles are widely advertised on backstreets.

Perama is the main tourist shuttle-bus operation in town; it may do hotel pick ups and drop-offs for an extra 10,000Rp (confirm with staff when making arrangements). It usually has at least one bus a day to destinations including Lovina (125,000Rp, 4½ hours), Padangbai (75,000Rp, three hours) and Ubud (60,000Rp, 1½ hours).

Trans-Sarbagita, Bali's public bus service, has four routes that converge on the central parking area just south of Istana Kuta Galleria. Destinations include Denpasar, Sanur, Jimbaran and Nusa Dua.

Kuta is a hub for the highly useful Kura-Kura tourist bus service.
