National Park Costs
Kalimantan has some of the most pristine, remote and untouristed national parks in Indonesia, but accessing them comes at a cost. The standard entry fee (permit) for all parks is 150,000/225,000Rp weekdays/weekends per person per day. Guides (from 150,000Rp to 300,000Rp per day) are also compulsory in most parks and forest reserves. When you combine this with the high cost of transport to remote locations – often by motorboat or 4WD – plus accommodation and food, the expense of visiting a park really adds up, especially for solo travellers. Choose your park carefully and look for other travellers to share costs, or consider going through a tour company rather than going it alone.
