The trip began to visit the area of Merdeka square as the central area of the Indonesian government office which contained a presidential palace, a vice president's office, a governor's office and a ministry office. Visit the National Monument which is in the middle of Merdeka Square is a 132 Meter tall monument with a gold-leaf flame on top, symbolizes the nation’s independence. This is one of the highlight of Jakarta City. The basement of the monument houses an exhibit of 48 dioramas depicting the history of Indonesia from prehistoric times to the present.Continue our tour to National Museum that located in Merdeka square area. National museum is the first and the biggest museum in Southeast Asia. After going through China Town and traditional markets, now we are heading to Dutch Town which will make you feel like you are in Amsterdam because the entire building in the Dutch Town area has a Dutch style of building. Dutch Town or the old town of Batavia used to be the center of Dutch rule when colonizing Indonesia, therefore in this area there were former governor's offices, banks, hospitals, post offices and courthouses, which are now converted into museums. The highlight of this area is the former governor's office which is currently turning into the Fatahillah museum. In this museum we can see various relics of the Dutch, such as conference tables, document shelves, war equipment, and underground prisons.After walking around you can take a break at Café Batavia which is in front of Fatahillah Museum, a restaurant that has a classic European concept. You can take a lunch or relax with a glass of coffee with a classic European atmosphere and stunning views of the Dutch Building. To close the trip today, we will visit the oldest port in Jakarta, the port that witnessed the heyday of the Netherlands when it controlled the entire spice trade in Indonesia.
