Jhalana Leopard Safari has the sole contract for running safaris in this city-edge forest reserve. The reserve is only 21 sq km, surrounded by human settlement, and the habitat for more than 20 leopards. The 2¾-hour safaris don't necessarily venture very far from the front gate but we can confirm that leopards can be spotted less than 100m from this gate – and effortlessly jumping over the 2m-high fences!
The reserve is also home to hyenas, monkeys, deer and nilgai (blue bull), and is a prime birdwatching destination, especially in summer.
The price for foreigners includes hotel transfer to/from Jaipur and a seat in a shared 4WD.
