Nubra to Pangong Tso
The wild and remote road between Nubra and Pangong means you don't have to return to Leh to link two of Ladakh's classic excursions. The narrow ribbon of laneway is highly vulnerable to landslides, however, and at three places there are river fords (at Km20.6, Km25.5 and Km28.3 from Agham) that can become dangerously high – especially on July afternoons when melting snows fill the side streams. Ideally use the road in the early mornings.
There is no habitation whatsoever along the 38km between Agham and Shayok village. Shayok village has a small gompa and at least four small homestays. There's more choice in Durbuk, 17km further where you meet the main Leh–Pangong road.
