Pancham Puriwala

North Indian in Mumbai

Located just outside CST station, this budget eatery is a heritage icon, serving puri bhaji (puffed up bread with a potato and pea curry) for over a century. The interiors are not fancy – there's no AC and diners sit on plain stainless benches – but the fun lies in listening to the stories of its owners, who set up this restaurant before the first train services started in India, while gulping down a glass of lassi (sweet buttermilk) and a plate of masala (stuffed) or palak (spinach) puris.
