Soft spoken and generous, they will welcome you to their lovely home in Kadri and give you a ring side view of the Mangalore way of cooking and treat you to some delicious homemade food.
Meet your hosts Maya and Oswald at their home in Kadri, Mangalore. On arrival, Maya will serve you a soothing welcome drink and speak to you about the cuisine and culture. She will be cooking a Mangalorean Christian style meal. You will get to assist her in the kitchen and cook a couple of traditional dishes. Learn how to marinate fresh fish with homemade spices and assist her in preparing Clams Sukkha (Clams made dry style). You can master the art of making your own Neer Dosa (rice flour pancakes which are soft and light and can be eaten with a curry or dry dish).After the cooking session, you will join them at the dining table to enjoy a sumptuous Mangalorean meal consisting of Clams Sukkha (Dry clams), fish fry and a fish curry (both will be catch of the day), Neer Dosa and rice. The dessert will be the local Mangalorean favourite called ‘Mani’ which is version of the rice pudding. Meals in southern states of India are incomplete without a cup of filter coffee.The entire meal experience will last for 3-4 hoursPlease note: This is not a professional cooking class.
