Welcome to Sangla & Around
Though hardly a city, little Sangla is the valley's largest settlement. Its useful main-street bazaar has snack-cafes, taxis, a cybercafe and an ATM. If you drove through you might think that was all. However, a steep three-minute walk down footpaths towards the riverside quickly reveals a patchily fascinating old town rich in traditional wooden buildings with distinctively tip-tilted heavy-slate roofing. The countryside beyond has several tempting getaways for hikers wanting to walk to glaciers and upland meadows.
