Tsuklakhang

Top choice in Gangtok

Gangtok's 'royal' monastery has a very impressive centrepiece temple whose superb interior incorporates a pair of carved dragon columns flanking the main images.

The whole compound is an oasis of calm and, though surrounding monastic quarters are contrastingly neutral, you can get a decent glimpse of the private Chogyal Palace while wandering across the monks' football pitch.
