Cultural in Assam

The Assamese New Year festivities last for three days (usually around 15 April) and feature traditional food, lively folk music, group dances, the ceremonial bathing of cows and bullocks, and general merriment across the state. The traditional mekhola sador dress for women and the red-and-white gamosa scarf for men – visible proclamations of regional identity – feature prominently.
