Tour description provided by Viator

Jules Verne made the peninsula of Snæfellsnes a legend when he wrote his novel, Journey to the center of the earth in 1864. He was inspired by the Icelandic Saga's and Snorri Sturluson, one of our greatest authors from the century. Now you have the opportunity to travel on a days journey with us to the center of the earth, or at least around it. On our tour we will drive around the Snæfellsnes Glacier and through the national park of Snæfellsnes. We will stop at so many gorgeous places that will take your breath away. And the best of all, you will get to taste the amazing delicacy, the fermented shark on our visit to the shark museum. How about that? Join us on this packed tour and enjoy Icelandic nature at its best.
We leave the city, bright and early and head towards the West, like Leif Eiriksson did approximately 1000 years ago.  We drive through the tunnel under Hvalfjörður(Whale fjord) on our way to the peninsula of Snaefellsnes.  Our first stop is Gerduberg, beautiful basalt columns. If you have seen the church of Hallgrimur Petursson in Reykjavik, you can see where the designer, Guðjón Samúelsson, got his inspiration from when designing the church.  The church at Budir is beautiful and the beach there is phenomenal. Sometimes we can spot seals on the beach. This is our second stop.   Next stop is the gorge of Raudfeldur, if you can hike it, it's extremely beautiful. Arnarstapi fishing village is the next stop, perhaps we can see some beautiful birds there and try the fish and chips. The magnificent lava cave, Vatnshellir, is our next stop. Do not get lost in that cave. Londrangar, beautiful rock formations and beach line is our next stop. Then it's off to Djupalonssandur, black sand beach. The highlight of the tour is the mountain Kirkjufell and the waterfall. Beautiful scenery that is incredibly popular to photograph. Next up, the shark museum of Bjarnarhofn where the fermented shark is processed traditionally and we will be so lucky as to have a taste. The last stop is at Stykkisholmur a small but beautiful town that was used as a location in the film of the secret life of Walter Mitty. Perhaps we will find Mr. Mitty there? We head back to the city and estimate our arrival there in the evening. Please do not forget that this tour is operated with a professional authorized and educated tour guide. There is Wi-Fi in the car and the schedule is flexible.
