The Landmannalaugar wardens can answer questions and provide directions and advice on hiking routes. They also sell a map of day hikes (300kr) and the Laugavegurinn hike (1800kr), as well as a booklet in English and Icelandic on the hike (3000kr). Note that wardens do not know if it will rain (yes, this is the most frequently asked question here). At the time of writing there was no wi-fi, but there was some mobile-phone reception.
The Information Hut – simply known as Landmannalaugar – is operated by Ferðafélag Íslands and provides hiking, accommodation and general info, plus maps of the local area. The same company runs the campsite and sleeping hut next door, plus huts on the Laugavegurinn hike. The company website is also loaded with information.
