Welcome to Hveravellir
Hveravellir Nature Reserve is a popular geothermal area of fumaroles and hot springs, located about halfway between Gullfoss in the south and the Ring Road in the north. Among its warm pools are the brilliant-blue Bláhver; Öskurhólshver (pronounced usk-ur-howls-kver), which emits a constant stream of hissing steam; and a luscious human-made bathing pool. Another hot spring, Eyvindurhver, is named after the outlaw Fjalla-Eyvindur. Hveravellir is reputedly one of the many highland hideouts of this renegade.
A service fee (500kr) applies for all day guests using parking, toilets or showers.
