Esztergom, Szentendre and Visegrád can easily be visited as day trips from Budapest, where there is a considerably wider range of accommodation. There is also a handful of decent guesthouses in each town, as well as a couple of good hotels apiece, with a particularly scenic hilltop one in Visegrád.

Sopron's star is a converted-monastery-cum-hotel, with a supporting cast of pensions scattered about the Old Town, and several more conventional hotels.
