Buda’s grande dame is a 234-room four-star hotel with loads of character. Completed in 1918, the hotel contains examples of the late Art Nouveau, notably the thermal spa's entrance hall and Zsolnay ceramic fountains. Prices depend on which way your room faces and what sort of bathroom it has. Use of the thermal baths is free for hotel guests.
The Gellért was the inspiration (but not the actual film location) for the hotel in Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel, which opened and then vanished without a trace in early 2014.
The Panorama Restaurant and the terrace at Hotel Gellért offer superb views over the Danube and Budapest. The restaurant features masterpieces of Hungarian cooking, as well as the finest wines from famous cellars to complement the dining experience.
Béla Berki Jr. and his gypsy band provide entertainment in the evenings. On Sundays a buffet brunch is available with special family discounts.
The Gellért Espresso café offers homemade cakes and pastries served with freshly brewed coffee or tea. On scorching summer afternoons, unique ice-cream sundaes are cool, refreshing and invigorating. Another feature is the terrace, providing a place for relaxation and chat. At tea time guests can enjoy live piano music.
The hotel facilities include a business centre, a souvenir shop, laundry and babysitting services, as well as free WiFi access throughout the hotel. Public areas and most rooms are non-smoking, while smoking rooms can be arranged upon request.
The famous Gellért Bath and Spa Budapest, connected to the Danubius Hotel Gellért, offers relaxation and recuperation to guests. The thermal bath and spa, together with a wellness complex, offer a unique experience, accessible for free once during your stay. Thereafter, additional entries are charged at half of the normal price.
The spa area offers an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and wave pool in summer, hot tub, thermal baths, a sauna, a steam room and Thai massages. A beauty salon and a terrace are available as well.
Please note that unfortunately the hotel does not cater for disabled guests (with or without wheelchair). The rooms are not equipped with disabled bathrooms.
The Panorama Restaurant is open from Tuesday till Saturday, from noon to midnight (summer season) and from 19:00 to midnight (winter season). Sunday brunch is served from 12:00 to 15:00. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.
The Söröző Brasserie is open every day from 12:00 to 23:00. The café is open every day from 09:00 to 20:00.
