I'll be in Budapest from July 31st - August 5th and would love to go see some live music (indie/ indietronica) and DJs, or some local music.
Any recommendations for
- specific events in this date range
- a good website for getting info on Prague nightlife
Hi all, will be traveling from Budapest to Ljubljana in August and saw that they operate a night train daily through end of August.
Unfortunately, I can't book tickets for it on their website (verified through an email with customer service). But I am concerned it will sell out (especially to get a sleeper!)
Does anyone know how else I can book the ticket? Maybe a good travel agency? It…
My wife and I wanted to visit several countries in Eastern Europe this May and June 2018. After inquires with many rental car companies I was about to throw in the towel, because no one would let me drive the car to all the countries we wanted to visit. I just happened to find a blog on Lonely Planet and a couple talked about a company in Budapest, Hungary which allowed them the flexibility we were looking for <snip>. After several calls and emails we came to an agreement and we headed to…
We’re going to have 3 days in Kecskemet, after some days in Budapest. One day will be for Kecskemet and the many small museums there. One day will be for the Kurultaj festival on the puszta just to the south.
For the third day, I was wondering what there might be to see or do in the puszta countryside near Kecskemet. I’m aware of the local horsemanship displays but we’ll see this anyway at the Kurultaj festival. Are there other aspects of this unusual countryside worth seeing? Has anyone been…
I’ve read that people aged over 65 can get free use of public transport in Hungary. Would be very grateful for clarification on any of the following points:
1) Does this definitely still apply in2018?
2) What transport does it cover – trains? buses? Budapest metro? Danube boats?
3) How does one use this? Do you still need to book a ticket while showing your passport? Or do you just get on a train, using your passport as a ticket? Can you still reserve a train seat? What about automatic barriers on…
Hope someone with local information can help me with a question I have. While looking for tickets to the train from Budapest to Ljublana at the end of July it list a "surcharge" of a "Replacement bus" - (not sure if the links works for anyone else than me)
I imagine this is because some part of the railway is under construction, but I have been unable to find any information…
I would be grateful for recommendations of a hotel / panzio etc which broadly fits the following: quiet,
rooms with private bathrooms, fairly low cost, fairly central. We are not wanting somewhere smart or plush or with lots of services. Would be very happy with an old building and simple furnishings. Nearby greenery a bonus.
Would be very grateful for recommendations of somewhere which fitted the above.
What are cheapest routes for air travel from UK to Budapest airport– preferably from northern England or Midlands?
Our eventual destination will be Kecskemet. Are there any buses direct from Budapest airport to Kecskemet or would we need to travel there via Budapest?
I’ll be spending a day in Keszthely and then traveling to Pécs. The guidebook I consulted said there were several buses a day from the area but I’m not finding anything about this online. It looks like I could take a train from Keszthely to Pécs but there are several changes. Is there an easy way to get to Pécs from Keszthely using public transportation?
Is there any direct trains or buses to get to Holloko from Budapest?
I would like to experience the traditional way of life in Hungary.
Is there any other villages like Holloko where the traditional life remains?
