Tour description provided by Viator

Vác is one of the oldest towns of Hungary and the second oldest bishopry seat of the country. This beautiful Hungarian town on the Danube shore, for 30 km from Budapest is rich in sights and history. A really pleasant halfway excursion from the rushed city! Though not visited nearly as much as either Szentendre or Visegrád on the opposite shore, it can become a pleasant and enjoyable stop over in Hungary...
Beside beautiful rococo and baroque buildings and churches, the Catedral, and the middle age castle, Vác offers also - uniquely in Europe - an interesting exhibition of mummies from the 18th century, called "Memento Mori". After sightseeing enjoy a walk or rest on the shore of the blue Danube! Sights includes the Catedral, built by the French master Isidore Canevale, the main square's enchanting baroque mansions, the oldest original baroque bridge of Hungary, the Triumphal Arch of Empress Marie Therese, the Bishop Palace, the fortress from the middle ages and the Dominican Church. After sightseeing enjoy a walk or rest on the shore of the blue Danube!
