Hugo Chavez International Airport is 3.5km east of the city (US$7/1.50 by taxi/moto-taxi). Sunrise Airways has four daily flights to Port-au-Prince (from US$55, 30 minutes).

International airlines servicing this airport include American Airlines, InterCaribbean Airways and IBC Airways. International flights are currently limited, but are scheduled for expansion.


Bus company San-Souci Tours has routes between Cap-Haïtien and Port-au-Prince (HTG900, seven hours), departing at 6am, 7am, 9am, 11am and 2pm and dropping off in Port-au-Prince near the airport. Buses travel via Gonaïves (three hours), with a stop for the bathroom or a quick bite.

Caribe Tours runs a direct coach service to Santiago (US$20, four hours) and Santo Domingo (US$30, nine hours) in the DR.

For Cormier Plage and Plage Labadie, taptaps leave from the corner of Rues 21 and Q in Cap-Haïtien (HTG25, 30 and 40 minutes respectively). For the Citadelle, taptaps to Milot (HTG20, one hour) leave from Stasyon Pon near the main bridge. Transportation to Fort-Liberté (HTG30, two hours) and Ouanaminthe (HTG60, three hours) also leaves from here.
