Pre-Departure Checklist

  • Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months past your arrival date
  • Organise required vaccinations and anti-malarial medications
  • Inform your debit-/credit-card company you’re heading away
  • Arrange for appropriate travel insurance
  • Best to have a bundle of the local currency (CFAs) before arriving

What to Wear

Dress codes for women is fairly relaxed, especially in Bissau and the islands. In more conservative areas, primarily Muslim communities in the north and northeast, long clothing is preferred. Light clothing is called for year round.
