The section of the Cuchumatanes range to the north and east of Todos Santos presents superb hiking opportunities through subtropical montane wet forest, much of it above 3700m. Among the unique species of vegetation found at these heights is the coniferous shrub known as huitó. One of the most spectacular destinations is La Torre (3837m), the highest nonvolcanic point in Central America.
