I'm planning our trip for the end of this year for Guatemala, Belize and Mexico.
In Guatemala we start in Antigua, after that we want to travel to Lanquin (10hrs), then to Flores (8hours) and then to Placencia in Belize.
So we need to travel a lot in Guatemala/Belize and their are 3 options for it:
- Travel with the chicken bus (I read that this is hell)
- Travel with a shuttle bus (Chicken buses are worse but this is not really good to)
- Travel with a private transfer (It's so…
I'm a girl who will be travelling solo around these countries in August. I have 20 days and I'd like to visit:
-Tikal and Flores
-Río Dulce and Livimgstone
-San Ignacio (Bélize)
- Caracol (Bélize)
- Cayo Caulker and San Pedro
If I have time, I might go to Utila and Roatán or San Ignacio de las casas and Palenque.
I've checked shuttles wit Adrenalime tours. But it seems complicated and long to go from Copán…
Hello experienced fellow travellers.
I’m not sure where to post this as it covers a couple of subjects but will place it on the USA and the Guatemala pages.
I’m planning a three week backpacking trip around Guatemala in November and am looking for some information on flying there from London.
As no airline flies direct to Guatemala I will have to change flights somewhere but don’t want to spend many long hours (or a day) hanging around for the connecting flight. The fastest route looks to be…
I am a very lucky girl travelling from 2 to around 28 July in Mexico with a friend, from Cancun to Oaxaca.
I have planned a set trip with friends in Guatemala from 8 august until 22 august, visiting Antigua, Semuc Champey, Flores.Tikal and some beach days.
Now I have around 8-10 days on my own before I have to be in Antigua on the 8th. I have come up with three options and I find it really hard to choose, so what do you think?
Take a bus from Oaxaca to Tapachula and then on to…
If you are reading this from Guatemala I hope everyone is safe and well. I had plans to travel to Guatemala this summer but had second thoughts after reading about the eruption. But I gather that it is mostly safe and I'm thinking now to go and volunteer to help with the relief.
Does anyone have any recommendations of how I can help and get involved while I'm there? Or any precautions about going during this time? Is anyone there and can give an update on the situation?
Hi, I'm going to Central America this summer and had planned to start in Guatemala between 9th and 30th July. I'd hoped to be in Antigua for a week (Spanish course) and then Monterrico for the next two (a volunteer project). I'd then go to the Honduran coast before stopping at Tikal on my way to Belize.
However after the sad news of the eruption of Fuego this week I don't know whether I should change this. I've read that Antigua is predominantly ok now but that travel down to Monterrico is…
My boyfriend and I are planning on travelling to Guatemala from June 11th-June 25th and was wondering what the conditions are like right now after the eruption? Our plans were the following:
Antigua, Lake Atitlan, Seamuc Champey, Flores, Tikal, Monterrico.
Is it safe to travel right now after the eruption? Or would it be wise to change our itinerary or postpone our trip as a whole? Anyone who is there now that could give some advice would be awesome :).
Thanks so much in advance!
We booked our family trip to Guatemala with two kids (12 and 16) for June 16-26, and had planned to spend the first five nights on Lake Atitlan and the last four nights in Antigua. We're watching closely for news of what's happening with El Fuego, and while we feel okay about the Atitlan portion of the trip, we're concerned that we may need a backup plan for the Atitlan portion (the 16yo has asthma, so ash in the air could be problematic). We're trying to keep the cost down, particularly since…
Need some recommandation.
Last week We planned a trip to guatemala for June 16th and with the eruption that happened today. Will it be a good idea to change our plans and go to Costa Rica instead ? Really want to see Guatemala.
