Festival in Pointe-à-Pitre

Fête des Cuisinières

A colorful event held in early August. Women in Creole dress, carrying baskets of traditional foods, parade through the streets to the cathedral, where they are blessed by the bishop.
Carnival in Pointe-à-Pitre

Starts warming up in January with roving groups of steel-band musicians and dancers, but officially runs between the traditional weeklong Mardi Gras period and Ash Wednesday (46 days before Easter).
