I'll be in Grenada/Carriacou for a few days and was hoping to do a day-trip into the lower Grenadines. Does anyone know if this is an option from Carriacou?
Alternatively, we were thinking of going to Saint Vincent first, staying in Union Island overnight and then getting a transfer to Carriacou. Is this more doable? I can't seem to find anything with a guaranteed departure (I know, its the Caribbean!).
All 3 islands are very mountainous with mostly concrete roads, excellent for walking and hiking. Friendly locals. I felt very safe walking around everywhere, although I did not go to any remote areas for obvious reasons.
Not a lot of tourists. Mostly 'yachties' who anchor in the many deep bays. There are resorts to the south of the islands that are mostly low key. This is also the more expensive area where many Europeans and Americans have 2nd homes or retirement homes. There is a large…
we r planning to go on a cruise at the end of february and we'll stay one day in grenada too.
my wife is pregnant, 5th month, and we are keeping on reading so many worrying news about zika virus.
some news really scare us, some other seem not to make you worry.
how is the situation like here?
do u think it would be a risk for us? on one hand we' r, or we try to be a bit confident 'cos it will be a cruise, but do you think that the visits of the island might be dangerous?
thanks in advance and…
we are a couple from italy who will come to Greanda at the end of February just for some hours, during a cruise in the Caribbean. We are two adventurous travelers as you can see in our blog: www.born2travel.it
This time we have had to choose a more relaxing thing 'cos my wife is pregnant and we can't do any hard activities.
Considering that we'll stay just few hours, from the morning till the evening, and that we don't wanna follow the groups of the cruise, what would you suggest to do on…
What is the easiest way to get from Grenada to Union Island, Grenadines? We were looking at ferry services. Does anyone have current information on this? Web searches seem to bring up old results only.
I've been searching past posts but notice that they are all over a year old. Has anyone been to Grenada recently ?
Any current recommendations ? My list has Tamernique Studio Apts and the Lazy Lagoon Tropical Cottages. Are they still a good option ? trying to stay around US$40/day looking to go either Oct or Nov ... I've also looked through Airbnb.com with some possibilities. thanks!
Has anyone done the hike from Mount Qua Qua to Concord Falls fairly recently? The Bradt book says that the trail was washed out by a hurricane, but I don't know if it has been fixed up yet. I was just wondering about current conditions for the hike.
A friend needs to ship a 20' container of household goods FROM Carriacou TO the mainland US (Florida would be fine)but is encountering difficulty finding a shipper to accomplish this. I suspect most here are more concerned with getting TO this island, but if you don;t ask, you'll never find out.
Anyone have a clew as to a company that can do this for him?
Thanks, and we now return you to your usual beautiful Caribbean weather.
Hello : )
We are traveling to Grenada in one week and interested in renting a 50-125cc moped on the island for a few days. Are mopeds common here or does any facility/hotel/etc rent them out that someone can suggest and what is a fair price to pay daily?
The public transport sounds great, but we wanted to hit some of the interior roads and treks and would be cool to do it on 2 wheels : )
Thanks for any input in advance,
