Welcome to Western Kalymnos
The best of Kalymnos is concentrated on its west side. Here you'll find clusters of tamarisk-shaded beaches and the bluest of blue bays. Here, too, are the three resort villages of Myrties, Masouri and the less-developed Armeos, although all have morphed into one long strip of tavernas and cafes. This is the island's best-known area for climbing – famous for the Grande Grotta – attracting a seasoned crowd of global climbers that mostly congregate in Masouri, with organised climbing along the nearby cliffs. The magical islet of Telendos, opposite languid Myrties, is also home to some great climbing routes. Of the beaches here, Masouri Beach is the largest and gets crowded in summer.
