Basic bikes can be hired in Thasos (Limenas). Top-of-the-line models and detailed route information are available in Potos, on the southwest coast, from Velo Bike Rental.
Frequent buses serve the entire island coast as well as inland villages. Buses meet arriving ferries at Skala Prinou and Thasos (Limenas), the island’s transport hub. The two port towns are connected by eight daily buses (€2.10, 20 minutes).
Frequent buses run throughout the day from Thasos (Limenas) to west-coast villages such as Limenaria (€5), Potos (€5.30) and Theologos (€6.70). Buses from Limenas also reach the east-coast destinations of Hrysi Ammoudia (Golden Beach; €2.20), Skala Potamia (€1.90) via Panagia (€1.80) and Potamia (€1.80), some of them continuing to Paradise Beach (€2.80) and Alyki (€4.10).
A full circular tour (about 100km) of the island runs six to eight times daily (€10.60, 3½ hours) – three clockwise and three anticlockwise. This round-the-island ticket is valid all day, so you can jump on and off without paying extra. The bus station on the Thasos (Limenas) waterfront provides timetables.
Services are reduced during weekends.
