The airport is 8km south of Mytilini Town. A taxi to town costs €10 and a bus €1.60.

Aegean Airlines (https://en.aegeanair.com), Olympic Air (www.olympicair.com), Sky Express (www.skyexpress.gr), Astra Airlines (www.astra-airlines.gr) and Air Minoan (www.minoanair.com/en) have offices at the airport. Mytilini Town travel agents also sell tickets.

Mytilini is a busy port with frequent connections to the Greek mainland as well as Ayvalyk in Turkey.

Up to three boats daily head for Piraeus (€38.50, 11¼ hours) via Chios (€21, 3¼ hours). Services to Kavala (€30.50, seven hours) via Limnos (€21, four hours) run three days a week. Four boats a week depart for ports located on Samos (€19.50, 5¼ hours) and Ikaria (€24, eight hours) .

The smallish southern port of Sigri, 27km from Skala Eresou, comes to life once a week, when Nissos Chios sets off for Piraeus (€20, 7½ hours) via the equally obscure port of Mesta on Chios (€21, 2½ hours).
