Flights & getting there
Kos' airport is located in the middle of the island, 24km southwest of Kos Town. Aegean Airlines, Olympic Air and Sky Express offer up to four daily flights to Athens (from €60, 55 minutes). Regular flights head to Rhodes (from €100, 30 minutes) and Leros (€110, 55 minutes). Flights to some other islands, such as Naxos, go via Athens. The airport is served by several daily buses to and from Kos Town's bus station (€3.20). A taxi to Kos Town costs around €37.
A recommended car hire office just outside the airport is Auto Bank Car Rental.
Ferries arrive and depart from the main port in front of Kos Town's castle.
The smaller and slower Panagia Spiliani, which also runs day trips from Nisyros to Kos in summer, carries passengers and cars to/from Nisyros on sailings that leave from Kos Town harbour four days a week, and from Kardamena in high season.
