Samothraki’s port, largest town and transport hub, Kamariotissa is home to the island’s main services. A nearby pebble beach has bars and decent swimming. While most visitors don’t linger here, it’s a likeable and attractive port filled with flowers and fish tavernas.
Further south, the 800m-long Pahia Ammos is a superb sandy beach along an 8km winding road from a cluster of serene villages, including Profitis Ilias and Lakkoma. Both of these villages are easily accessible from Kamariotissa and have some of the island's best tavernas.
