Once a year on Καθαρά Δευτέρα (Clean Monday) the people of Greece celebrate the end of the Carnival period before moving into lent. Since the mid-19th Century, the gorgeous village of Galaxidi has held an annual flour "war" where residents and visitors come together to paint the village and each other with brightly colored flour for a day of celebrating, fun and chaos!The Greek Kitchen is proud to offer an amazing package for those who want to get in on the fun, which is even better value than taking the public bus from Athens!The price of the day trip includes:- Return coach travel from central Athens- Boiler suit, mask, and goggles- 1 kilo of flour- 5 alcoholic drinks/soft drinks and snacks from our secret barDuring the flour "war", the village is divided into "combat" and "safe" zones so you can join in or just take a break and watch the madness when you feel like it. Look for the Greek Kitchen Hosts with the logos on the t-shirts.Duration: 5 minutesStop At: Mount Parnassus, Delphi, Phocis Region, Central GreeceThe journey from Athens to Galaxidi is approximately 215km and takes around 3 hours including a comfort stop halfway; sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery as we pass through the Parnassus Mountains and historical towns like Arachova and Delphi.Duration: 3 hoursStop At: Flour Throwing Festival in Galaxidi, Galaxidi, Phocis Region, Central GreeceOn arrival in Galaxidi, you'll have an orientation walk of the village with your Greek Kitchen Host; they'll show you the layout of the "combat" and "safe" zones as well as the location of our secret bar and rest area. Your host will show you the starting location of the event and tell you the time to be back there. The bells will ring, the mayor will give a welcome speech and the war will commence!
