Hi all
My partner and I are looking to spend a few days in Santorini in mid may. We are looking at travel options but direct flights seem a little expensive.
So we are going to try and see a way around. What would you recommend ?

We live in Stuttgart, Germany. Maybe you can recommend a route that would have us leave from another airport and reach another island, then island hopping would bring us to Santorini ?

Any help would be amazing.
Thanks in advance
Xavier

We will be 4 (hubby. I plus married children) flying Jfk to Athens. Staying prob 2 nights to sightsee and then going to Santorini 2 days and then ferry to Naxos for 5-6 days. I know it’s a long ferry ride from Piraeus to santorini. Would it be better to fly? Cost comparison of this option? Also once in islands any recommendations for locations to stay? Def want to be near a beach on Naxios. Do we need a rental car in either place? Thanks

Back in the mid-1980s through to the late 1990s, I used to just book a cheap flight to Athens in June or September, go to Piraeus and get on a ferry, and on disembarking at the other end there would never be any problem finding a room from the people waiting to meet travellers such as myself. Is it still possible to do this? I haven't been back for nearly 20 years and I think the time has come. These days, do I need to be more organised and book rooms in advance?

Hey all,

My wife and I (we are late 20's and early 30's) will be in Crete for 6 nights and 5 days between August 29-Sept 4.

We arrive in Chania around 545pm by air from Athens on Aug 29th and plan on taking the morning ferry on Sept. 4th from Herkalion to Santorini.

I understand that Crete is very large and requires more than 5 days, however, that is not doable for our time allotment. Therefore, you will see we cut out some of the main things people suggest such as the museum in Herkalion and…

My friend and I are traveling to Greece in July for two weeks.
We are deciding on Santorini and another two islands maybe.
Or doing Zakynthos and Kefalonia.
We are looking for a mixture of super chilled lovely beach vibe. Plus some sightseeing, walking treks. History. We are in our 30’s and meeting friends from England somewhere one weekend. Who also want chilled Beach vibe.
I’m not keen on super touristy areas. My friend is set on Santorini.
All ideas welcome thanks.

We arrive in Santorini at 3:30 am on a ferry from Milos. We are staying at Hotel Ikaros and can not check in until 8 am when reception opens. Can anyone tell me somewhere we can spend the 5 hours we have to wait? Thanks.

Hi there,

My partner and I are planning a trip to Greece in September for 2 weeks. Nothing is booked or confirmed at all, but our tentative plan is to fly in to Athens from Toronto, then head straight to the islands (visiting Athens on the way back for a couple of nights). We've narrowed down our island selection to four, but we think we should really get it down to three since we've only got two weeks. So far, we're looking at:

Santorini
Milos
Naxos
Sifnos

We definitely want to see Milos and…

Hi all! We are arriving at the Athens International Airport at 9am on Sept 6. We were scheduled to fly to Chania on Ryanair on a 1pm flight, but unfortunately they are ceasing operations at the end of May. It looks like the next flight would be a 5pm on Olympic/Aegean air so this leaves us with 8 hours in Athens. Questions:

1) Does anyone know of any other flight / transportation that might get us to Chania sooner? I only found overnight ferries so that wouldn't work. Going through Heraklion…
