Fully restored after the big earthquake of 1956 and with more than three centuries of history, Megalochori rose from the ruins as a place of historical mansions, old traditional houses, pirate hideaways and wine canavas. So how about some Greek Coffee & a mastic submarine (you will just have to wait & see!) at a traditional café?Duration: 1 hourStop At: Castelli of Emporio, Emporio, Santorini, Cyclades, South AegeanNext we visit the traditional village of Emporeio, the largest traditional settlement on the island of Santorini which every year beckons visitors with its stunning sequence of old windmills on the hillside, its narrow whitewashed alleyways, gorgeous blue domed churches, a 3rd Century BC sacred site to a pagan goddess and a ruined medieval castle and if that isn't enough to satisfy even the most demanding photo opportunity seeker then we don’t know what is!Duration: 1 hourStop At: Yiannis Nomikos EstateLater we visit the Nomikos estate where we learn from Yannis Nomikos about the unique products that only grow in the arid Santorinian soil, the salty climate and the warm Mediterranean sun. There, he cultivates produce of protected geographical indication and exceptional quality, remaining faithful to the traditional methods that were passed down by his father. He will tour us around his crops as well as his private processing unit where we’ll have a chance to witness the life cycle of Santorinian tomatoes, caper, fava beans and Santonuts, from the soil into the package! But of course not before we indulge in their tasting!Duration: 1 hourStop At: Aroma AvlisAfterwards, we get creative with local products in a cooking class Santorinian style! There, you’ll have a chance to create your own plates with the guidance of a professional chef and by the end you will not only know the recipes of traditional dishes but you will also get to enjoy delicious plates of your creation.
