Flights & getting there
The airport is about 20km north of town; a private taxi here costs around C40. Starbow (www.flystarbow.com) and Africa World Airlines (www.flyawa.com.gh) fly between Tamale and Accra from C242 one way.
Bus & Tro-Tro
Buses and tro-tros (minibuses or pick-ups) congregate around the Total petrol station and the radio mast in the centre of town. There are regular tro-tros to Bolgatanga (C10, three hours) and Wa (C15, six hours).
Intercity STC buses go to Accra (C70, 12 hours, 6am daily), Kumasi (C40, six hours, 6am daily) and Takoradi (C58, 13 hours, 3pm Tuesday to Saturday). VVIP has a daily service to Accra (C80).
To get to Mole National Park take a tro tro from the main bus station to Wa, and change at either Damongo or Larabanga. There is also a daily Metro Mass (www.metromass.com) bus to Wa, that leaves at 5am from the bus station behind the Total petrol station. Buy a ticket in advance or arrive at the bus station well before the scheduled departure time to be sure of a seat.
