Flights & getting there
Weimar is situated on the A4 autobahn, which connects Eisenach and Erfurt in the west with Dresden in the east. There's little parking in the historical centre, but plenty of options immediately outside it.
Frequent regional trains go from Weimar Hauptbahnhof, located 1km north of Goetheplatz, to Erfurt (€5.80, 15 minutes), Jena (€5.80, 15 minutes), Gotha (€10, 40 minutes) and Eisenach (€16, one hour). From Erfurt, direct ICE trains take you to Frankfurt (from €30, 2¼ hours), Munich (from €30, 2½ hours), Leipzig (from €20, 45 minutes), Dresden (from €25, two hours) and Berlin (from €34, two hours).
