In the early 1900s, Traben-Trarbach was Europe's second-largest wine-trading centre (after Bordeaux) and consequently expanded its storage with cellars – some up to 100m long and several storeys deep – below the towns' streets. Fascinating 90-minute English- and German-language guided tours departing from the tourist office take you beneath the Jugendstil buildings into the cellar network, emerging in hidden gardens and vineyards.
