Hurricane Lothar swept across Central Europe in 1999, flattening some parts of the northern Black Forest, where the trees fell like dominoes in wind speeds of up to 200km/h. The Lotharpfad is an 800m adventure trail with walkways and raised platforms that give an insight into how the area is now being reforested.

The trail is signposted on the B500, 7km north of Kniebis.
