My wife and I will have an afternoon in Berlin in early July. We've never been to the city or Germany before. We really wish we had more time to spend in Berlin, but we're traveling by cruise with a large family group for a 70th birthday, so we don't have much control over the itinerary!
I'm looking at this visit as a chance to get a small taste of what Berlin has to offer to entice us to come back and spend some real time there.
My ideal day: Wander a historic/picturesque/uniquely Berlin…
Hi, I'm visiting Germany for the first time next month with my folks and we are planning to do 7-8 days drive/train/fly around from Frankfurt all over the south side of Germany. After which we are left with 4 days, and plan was to fly out of Munich or Nuremberg to Berlin as a last stop
This is the tentative plan,
Frankfurt - Krov (we have a hotel booking here that cannot be changed) and areas around - Mannheim - Black Forest - Munich - Nuremberg - Frankfurt
We are flexible and unsure if 7-8…
I'm planning a trip to Europe for ~1 year to do some rock climbing inside and outside the Schengen zone/area. I have only a USA passport.
I have friends who live in Germany and was wondering if registering the car under their name/address would be legal. Or if they bought the car and then signed it over to me.
Export plates seem a bit of a hassle and I also don't understand how car insurance works if I plan to visit countries outside of the EU like Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, etc.
To get my land legs from flying to Germany and going on a bike trip down the Mosel river looking for a town to decompress for a couple of days.
Thinking of either Cochem where the Burg Eltz castle isn’t too far and may not have time to get there once the biking trip starts. Or Saarbrucken which would not be a touristy town like Cochem. This would be late August.
Thanks for your thoughts.
I would like to have a backpack tour in Germany and discover the nature and the cities .... it is not a long vacation but of course i am interested if anyone can give me advise and i would be totally glad if someone can join :).... I am considering a long week end in the Black Forest in October, I've done a bit of research but wondering if you could give us some advice please.
We'll have 3 nights, we can't drive and will either be flying to Strasburg or Baden Baden, or take a train via Paris.
We are looking at doing some nice, scenic hikes, we're casual hikers, I can walk for many hours on flat terrain but struggle with steep inclines.
Where would you recommend we stay? I was thinking Gegenbach as it's easy to…
My family has had the good fortune to visit Europe for 17 nights each of the past 3 summers, and we are at it again this coming summer. This time we will visit Copenhagen for 5 nights, then 7 nights cycling western Tirol and around Bodensee to Konstanz. Our last night is at the Frankfurt airport, leaving us 4 nights free to roam.
But where to go? On past trips we've spent the last 4 nights at the same off the radar Tirolean alpine valley, but this time we get Tirol on our bike trip…
We are going to be headed on a road trip from our base in Bretagne, over to the Alsace region for a few weeks. I see just over in the Black Forest region near the French border is a popular area for spas, hot pools, Roman baths.
But how to choose one?
Would love some recommendations. We will be there in late July, so possibly the very busy summer period, but we will have a car, so can arrive to anywhere in the area. Not looking for super expensive, flash, spa day - just somewhere nice and…
I'm spending 10 days in Germany in July--flying into Berlin and out of Munich. I'm spending 3 nights in Berlin and then looking to spend a few days in nature before finishing up in Munich. What would be a good base in Bavaria, not too far from Munich, from which to explore? I won't be renting a car so need a place that's accessible by bus/train. I'm interested mostly in easy-to-moderate hiking and cycling, and am also open to suggestions for other areas that are either not too far from Munich…
My husband and I will be renting a car in Germany for 3 weeks. Can anyone recommend a car insurance to buy?
Also, is there a drop off charge if you return in different city. We are thinking of picking up car in Koblenz and returning in Frankfurt.
Appreciate any thoughts.
