St GeorgHandy for the main train station and otherwise excellent transport links to rest of city; within walking distance of city centre.Sleazy atmosphere in the south of St Georg. Can be noisy on weekends.
Speicherstadt & HafenCityClose to museums and within easy walking distance of waterfront and city centre. Most hotels quiet.Lacks neighbourhood personality. Very little choice for budget travellers.
St Pauli & ReeperbahnWonderfully vibrant and diverse neighbourhood with great eating and drinking options. Not far to stagger home at the end of a long night.You'll probably need to take the train to the rest of the city. Can be very noisy, especially on weekends.
Altona & ElbmeileWonderful neighbourhood feel. Great eating, shopping and dining options. Generally quiet streets make for a good night's sleep.You'll need to take the train to visit anywhere else in Hamburg.
