We are going to be headed on a road trip from our base in Bretagne, over to the Alsace region for a few weeks. I see just over in the Black Forest region near the French border is a popular area for spas, hot pools, Roman baths.
But how to choose one?
Would love some recommendations. We will be there in late July, so possibly the very busy summer period, but we will have a car, so can arrive to anywhere in the area. Not looking for super expensive, flash, spa day - just somewhere nice and…
I'm spending 10 days in Germany in July--flying into Berlin and out of Munich. I'm spending 3 nights in Berlin and then looking to spend a few days in nature before finishing up in Munich. What would be a good base in Bavaria, not too far from Munich, from which to explore? I won't be renting a car so need a place that's accessible by bus/train. I'm interested mostly in easy-to-moderate hiking and cycling, and am also open to suggestions for other areas that are either not too far from Munich…
My husband and I will be renting a car in Germany for 3 weeks. Can anyone recommend a car insurance to buy?
Also, is there a drop off charge if you return in different city. We are thinking of picking up car in Koblenz and returning in Frankfurt.
Appreciate any thoughts.
I'm just going to toss this out there. I'm going to be doing a day trip from Strasbourg to the small town of Göbrichen just north of Pfrozheim. I'm wondering if working some Black Forest sites into the trip would be an interesting addition to an otherwise forgettable trip. (FYI Göbrichen is an old ancestral town we'll be visiting).
I've read that buying a SIM card in Germany is very difficult for tourists entering the country for a short time. Rick Steve's web site (https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/tech-tips/german-sim-cards) states
"As of now, at least technically, they are required to verify your German address with an anmeldung, or registration document - something you register for if staying for three months or longer. No anmeldung, no verification, no service!"
Does anyone have experience with this who…
I am looking at going to Berlin for the weekend with a group of friends. I don't really know where to look. Basically looking for the best cheap places/areas for drinking beer, best day time hangouts/places to go in the evening?Any recommendations welcome.
I can't decide which city I want to visit. Can someone compare the two for me please?
ART, HISTORY, ARCHITECTURE, NIGHTLIFE. I only have 4 days. I like upbeat/lively places. I am traveling from Prague and would like to try DB train. 1st class to Berlin is cheap but 1st class to Munich is expensive. However, if Munich is a better city to visit for a first timer like myself I care less about the cabin I will be in. Original plan was Berlin and fly to Dublin from there but after talking to…
Hello. We are flying from Cologne to Rome and are going to park our car there in Cologne. I have found the list of parkings: https://www.parken-flughafen-vergleich.de/parkplatz-register/ but I do not know which is good. Do you have some experiences with parking there? Thanks
My wife recently discovered the VVS App and we were wondering if this can be used as our ticket on transportation around Stuttgart if we buy a mobile ticket . It seems that way, but don't want to get stopped for doing it incorrectly. I have always had to punch my ticket to validate during my past trips.
I am passing through Berlin next Monday, arriving at Schönefeld airport around 7am by bus and could leave in the afternoon or early evening by train.
Are there any interesting things to do on that particular day (especially in the morning)? Any recommended places for a cheap breakfast?
I've been to Berlin many times, so am not interested in the usual tourist sights. Perhaps there are some seasonal/temporary things going on? I realize that most museums would be closed on Monday. Am mostly…
