Göttingen is on the A7 autobahn, running north–south. The most convenient exit is 73, 3km southwest of the centre along Kasseler Landstrasse (an extension of Groner Landstrasse). Pick up the B27 south to the Weser River and northeast to the Harz Mountains for Fairy-Tale Road towns.
There are frequent direct InterCity Express (ICE) services to Hanover (from €20, 35 minutes), Hamburg (from €25, two hours), Frankfurt (from €30, two hours), Munich (from €48, 3¾ hours) and Berlin-Hauptbahnhof (from €36, 2½ hours). Regular, direct regional services go to Kassel (€16, one hour), Weimar (€22, two hours) and Erfurt (€22, 1¾ hours).
