Cologne is a popular shopping destination with a fun mix of eccentric boutiques, designer and vintage stores, plus the usual selection of chain and department stores. And of course there are classic outlets for its famous eau de cologne.
Hohe Strasse is one of Germany’s oldest pedestrianised shopping strips, and along with its side street In der Höhle, it's where you'll find all the mainstream chains and department stores. More high-street fashion and shoe shops flank Schildergasse where the whale-like Weltstadthaus catches the eye, while on nearby Neumarkt, the Neumarkt-Galerie mall is easily recognised by the upturned ice cream cone on the roof.
Mittelstrasse and Pfeilstrasse are lined with exclusive fashion brands, jewellery and home-accessory shops, while Ehrenstrasse is given over to trendy designer boutiques. Funky music shops, vintage clothing dealers and the-next-hot-designer-shops are scattered about the streets of the Belgisches Viertel neighbourhood and Brüsseler Platz.
