Begin your morning with panoramic views across the Alps from Hitler´s historic mountain retreat, known as the Eagle´s Nest. Visit the Königsee, a glacial lake situated in a valley surrounded by mountains. Walk with your guide to the "Malerwinkel" view point from where you can almost see the entire lake. Explore the town of Berchtesgaden and have time to purchase lunch (at own expense) in one of the typical Bavarian restaurants.
This Tour covers the Eagle’s Nest, as well as Hitler’s former Headquarters, and Königsee, a glacial lake situated in a valley surrounded by the Bavarian Alps. Start your Morning with a beautiful drive on an off the beaten path road passing the meadow where the opening scene of the Sound of Music (The Hills are Alive) was filmed, the road will lead as to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Berchtesgaden after a short picture stop we will go on to the “Obersalzberg” Eagle’s Nest bus terminal. You will then board a special equipped mountain bus for a breath-taking ride up the 4 mile road with its 27% incline to a rocky plateau from where we will walk into a 406ft (124 meter) long tunnel leading us directly to the original WWII brass elevator that will transport you up through the heart of the Kehlstein mountain for another 406ft straight into the Eagle’s Nest itself. After a tour through the Eagle’s Nest you will have some free time to enjoy the views or refreshments. Descending from the Obersalzberg on the way to the town of Berchtesgaden we will also show you where the underground bunker complexes below the mountain where located and the grounds where Adolf Hitler had his Residence the Berghof. After our visit of the grounds of the Berghof we continue on to the beautiful Bavarian mountain town of Berchtesgaden located in the Kings Lake River valley. You will have time to explore Berchtesgaden on your own as well as to have lunch in one of the typical Bavarian Restaurants (own expense). On we go to the Königsee, a glacial lake situated in a valley surrounded by mountains. Walk with your guide to the "Malerwinkel" view point from where you can almost see the entire lake. Our return drive back to Salzburg will take you along Kings Lake River back to your Hotel or any other destination in Salzburg.
