Idyllic Lake KönigsseeLocated in southeastern Bavaria, Lake Königssee lies at the foot of Mount Watzmann in the heart of the Berchtesgaden Alpine National Park. During the quiet crossing by electric boat to the idyllic island of St. Bartholomew, you will not only hear the impressive echo but you will also learn interesting facts about the mountain lake itself. The trip provides time for you to hike and enjoy the beautiful landscape as well. The Berchtesgaden salt mine, in continuous operation since 1517, is only about 20 minutes away. Dressed in period mining gear, you begin the exciting tour (approx. 90 min. long) through the salt-laden mountain by riding in on the mine train. Other highlights are the miners’ slides, a raft ride across the subterranean “Mirror Lake,” and the Salt Cathedral.
